Durham police are investigating the discovery of mercury at a second playground in Pickering.
The potentially toxic substance was found Tuesday by a staffmember on a post in the playground of Holy Redeemer Catholic school near Liverpool Road, south of the 401.
The employee wiped the mercury up with a glove and threw it away.
After hearing news reports of the mercury found in nearby Kinsmen Park, school staff called police.
Police said the mercury was deliberately spilled on a slide in Kinsmen Park.
