TORONTO – Only Cookie Monster could make Carly Rae Jepsen’s massive hit “Call Me Maybe” even more sugary sweet.
The “Sesame Street” clan has offered a new version of the chart-topping sensation called “Share It Maybe.”
That’s exactly what eager commenters are doing online — the three-minute clip racked up tens of thousands of views since being posted to YouTube on Tuesday morning.
The jaunty clip finds the blue muppet turning the pick-up tune into a song about sweet snacks, pleading that if “you got cookie, share it maybe.”
The song also features no end of adorable snack-themed lyrical turns, including the opening line: “Me got a wish on me mind/ It is the chocolate-chip kind/ Me look at you and me tell/ You may have Snickerdoodle.”
The infectious tune from the Mission, B.C., songwriter remains firmly atop the Billboard chart in the U.S., Canada and around the world.
The Sesame Street interpretation joins an ever-widening array of versions of the song, which has now been sung by Justin Bieber, Ashley Tisdale, Selena Gomez, the Miami Dolphins cheerleading team and — thanks to some clever editing — inadvertently by U.S. President Barack Obama.
