Flying tire hits OPP vehicle

An OPP officer was unhurt, but his cruiser suffered serious damage after being hit by a flying tire from a truck on the 401.
It happened in the eastbound lanes at James Snow Parkway, Thursday morning.
OPP Sergeant Dave Woodford told CityNews the traffic was not moving fast, but the tire came towards the cruiser at a high speed.
“If you don’t see something like that coming, and all of the sudden you panic, you lose control, then you can be involved in a separate collision as a result,” he said, adding that tires pick up speed as they start bouncing.
“But he did see it coming which was good for him, and he was able to keep control of the vehicle.”
There is no word on whether or not charges will be laid against the driver of the truck.
