Country singer and actor Billy Ray Cyrus credits Toronto for helping catapult his acting career and the career of his daughter Miley.
Cyrus stopped by Breakfast Television Wednesday morning to promote his latest album Change My Mind and talked about the importance of the time he and his family spent in Toronto while he was filming his television series Doc.
“Miley started acting in some spots on Doc. We went around the corner here to see Mamma Mia — it was the first time we’d seen a play together — and Miley sitting beside me … nudged me and said ‘Daddy that’s what I want to do,’” he said.
“She started studying with some great coaches here in Toronto and took it really serious and the city and the people gave her a chance to learn from the best. The whole Hannah Montana kind of started here in Toronto.”
Cyrus performed the title track off his new album on Wednesday. Watch the attached video to his interview and performance.
