Girl robs central New York bank using bomb threat

By The Associated Press

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Police in Syracuse, N.Y., say a 17-year-old girl held up a bank by threatening tellers with what she claimed was a bomb detonator.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports that Cheyenne Brandon walked into an Alliance Bank branch Wednesday morning, holding a device attached to a cord.

Court records show she told the tellers she had a bomb and “was going to blow everyone up” unless they turned over their money.

Two tellers gave her a total of $1,395.

Police tell the newspaper an officer saw Brandon running into a nearby park and caught her, recovering the money. There was no bomb.

Brandon is being held on a first-degree robbery charge.
