Popular Cambridge chef reported missing in Toronto

Waterloo police are searching for a popular chef who was last seen in Toronto on Dec. 31.

Jonathan Gushue, 41, who may be going by the name Jonathan Herder, is the grand chef at Cambridge’s Langdon Hall.

He didn’t show up for the restaurant’s New Year’s Eve service, according to The Grid.

Police said he had contact with his relatives on Dec. 30, but they haven’t heard from him since.

“He had, to our understanding, checked into a hotel in Toronto and then checked out on the 31st,” police spokesman Olaf Heinzel told The Canadian Press, adding police have been searching areas where he might have gone afterward.

It’s not the first time Gushue has vanished — Heinzel said the chef disappeared for “about three or four days” a few years ago.

Gushue is married and has three children.

While he has a Twitter account, he doesn’t use it often. Gushue last posted on Dec. 26, but his most recent post before then was on Dec. 6.

Gushue has been the head chef at the five-star Langdon Hall for seven years.

Gushue is white, five–feet-10-inches tall, 180 pounds, with short dark hair and blue eyes.
