Police are investigating after a 27-year-old woman was found dead in Etobicoke on Saturday morning.
Officers found the body on the grass next to Richgrove Drive, near Martin Grove Road and Eglinton Avenue West, around 7:30 a.m.
Insp. Tim Crone told reporters there were “obvious signs of trauma” to the body.
Family members identified the victim as Bridget and said she was the mother of two young children.
“She was a very good girl. She respects everybody and I don’t know what to say anymore,” Alex, a family friend told CityNews.
Police say they received a call from a man around 7 a.m. saying a woman had been murdered. They were lead to the location where the victim’s body was found.
“Very quickly upon arriving they discovered evidence of a struggle that had taken place,” said Crone. “There are obvious signs of trauma to the victim.”
The victim’s uncle told CityNews they received a shocking phone call this morning.
“He said I killed Bridget, that’s what he said,” he stated.
The forensics unit is at the Richgrove Drive scene — one of four GTA locations that are part of the investigation — and an autopsy will be performed.
Crone said police tracked down a person of interest at a gas station in Mississauga and took him into custody without incident.
