Main Street re-opens after earlier closure for gas leak

TORONTO, Ont. – Main Street has re-opened after being closed between Danforth Avenue and Gerrard Street early Saturday afternoon for a gas leak.

Construction workers were digging in the area Saturday morning when they hit a gas line outside the apartment complex on that street, police told 680News.

Those buildings and nearby homes did not have to be evacuated, however.

The closure lasted for several hours as crews worked to fix the problem.
