The University of Toronto is considering several major changes to its undergraduate teacher-training program.
The Toronto Star Reports OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education), is creating a task force to review options on how to re-shape its teacher education.
OISE currently has a one-year undergraduate Bachelor of Education program for students who already have an degree from an accredited university.
One model the school is considering would see that degree replaced with a two-year graduate program.
Queen’s Park has already announced that all teacher education programs will increase from one to two years starting 2014.
