Weekend subway closure called off

A subway closure planned for this weekend has been called off.

The TTC was set to bring in a machine to grind the rails — and reduce vibration and noise — between Union and St. Clair West stations on the University-Spadina line.

But early Friday morning, spokesman Brad Ross said the equipment isn’t working.

Ross said the TTC will decide on Monday whether rail grinding scheduled for the Yonge line the weekend of April 27-28 will happen.

Officials will announce new dates for the University-Spadina track work soon.
