The Dallas Stars have found their new No. 1 centre.
The Boston Bruins have traded forward Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button to the Stars in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser.
Seguin, 21, is set to earn a salary cap hit of $5.75 million until 2018-19.
The No. 2 overall pick in 2010 scored 16 goals and 16 assists in 48 games this season. He is expected to fit in with scoring winger Jamie Benn on the top line in Dallas.
He was one of the three draft picks acquired by the Bruins in the controversial trade that sent Phil Kessel to the Toronto Maple Leafs before the start of the 2009-10 season.
Seguin spent three seasons with the Bruins, where he was a member of their Stanley Cup-winning team in 2010-11.
Eriksson has three years remaining on his deal where he will earn a salary cap hit of 4.25 million.
He will add a nice scoring touch to the Bruins group of forwards as the Swedish forward has scored 25-plus goals in four of the last five seasons.
In 48 games last season, he amassed 12 goals and 17 assists with a minus-9 rating.
The 27-year-old has 150 goals and 207 assists in 501 career NHL games.
