Pedestrian scramble at Bay and Bloor could be eliminated by the City

The pedestrian scramble at Bay and Bloor that allows people to cross all ways on the signal could be removed by the city without the support of public.
The City of Toronto said that there aren’t enough pedestrians crossing at the Bay and Bloor intersection to warrant the feature.
The under-performing scramble is impacting traffic and the city wishes to install regular traffic lights again.
The scramble at Bay and Bloor is one of the three implemented downtown in November 2010.
Fiona Chapman, the City’s manager of pedestrian projects, said the notion of removing the scramble is only a recommendation. There will be public consultation before a final decision is made.
A public meeting on this and other Bay Street issues including the possibility of a new bike lane between Cumberland and Bloor Streets will be held on July 31.
