Body found in Whitby is missing teacher Jeffrey Boucher: police

A body found along the shoreline of Lake Ontario in Whitby on Saturday is that of missing teacher Jeffrey Boucher, Durham regional police said Tuesday.

However, the cause of his death is still not known. An autopsy was conducted on Monday and further tests will be done. The results from those tests may take several weeks.

Police say no foul play is suspected and there were no signs of trauma to the body.

Boucher, 52, was reported missing by his family on Jan. 13 after he didn’t return home from a morning run.

The body was found by a citizen walking along the Whitby shoreline, near Thickson Road South and Crystal Beach Boulevard, on Saturday afternoon.

Boucher was a teacher Bowmanville High School and was married with two daughters.
