Bieber assault case back in Toronto court on May 26

The assault case against pop star Justin Bieber will return to a Toronto court on May 26.
A lawyer appeared on the pop star’s behalf on Monday for a routine appearance.
The singer wasn’t required to attend the hearing at the Old City Hall courthouse, and isn’t expected at any court date until the trial starts.
Bieber, 20, was charged with one count of assault earlier this year after an incident involving a Toronto limo driver in late 2013.
A limo driver alleged he was driving six people from a downtown nightclub to a hotel on Dec. 29, 2013, when one person repeatedly struck him in the head.
Bieber surrendered to Toronto police on Jan. 29 and was charged and released. The conditions of his release include good behaviour and not contacting the limo driver.
The pop star also faces charges in Florida and recently settled a lawsuit with a former bodyguard.
On Jan. 23, he was charged with driving under influence, resisting arrest and using an expired licence after police said they caught him allegedly drag racing in Miami Beach. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
