Edmonton judge fined for drunk driving, prohibited from driving for one year

EDMONTON – An Edmonton provincial court judge has been sentenced for drunk driving.
Paul Sully pleaded guilty in court to a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08.
He was fined $1,500, ordered to pay $450 into a fund for victims of crime and prohibited from driving for one year.
Court also heard that the 75-year-old recently resigned from his job.
Sully was appointed to the provincial court in 1998 and retired in April, but was kept on as a part-time judge for a term that was to expire in 2016.
Edmonton police said they pulled over the judge last month during a routine checkstop.
