Peterborough man live-tweets about getting hit by lightning

A Peterborough man live-tweeted about getting struck by lightning in Lakefield on Canada Day.

Tim Rollwagen, who describes himself as a weather-obsessed outdoor enthusiast, was outside taking photos of the stormy weather on Tuesday morning when he got zapped by Mother Nature.

He quickly advised his Twitter followers not to hold onto a wire fence while trying to take storm photos as he “just got blasted by a lightning bolt.”

Fortunately he sustained only minor injuries and drove himself to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre to get checked out.

He even tweeted the beautiful photo that he took shortly before he was hit by lightning.

Don’t hold on to a wire fence when trying to get storm pics, just got blasted off by a lightning bolt that struck it. #onstorm #shaking

I’m okay, currently shaking in my car…it happened right after this shot. #onstorm pic.twitter.com/id0Sxkdk3t

This season, Ontario has already endured several thunderstorms and recorded at least six tornadoes.

Last month, four golfers were struck by lightning in Whitchurch-Stouffville, including one man who had to be revived. And a tornado destroyed a neighbourhood in Angus, damaging about 100 homes and displacing nearly 300 people.
