A city worker is in hospital with serious injuries after he fell down a manhole in Etobicoke.
It happened shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Emergency crews had to rescue the worker after he was trapped in a manhole near The Queensway and North Queen Street.
Firefighters said it appears the man’s harness broke or malfunctioned, sending him crashing to the ground.
He was rushed to a trauma centre with possible fractures to his legs and back injuries, but is expected to recover.
The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate, but police don’t suspect foul play.
