Ontario provincial police will be on the lookout over the Thanksgiving long weekend for what it calls the “Big Four” of dangerous driving: aggressive, impaired, and distracted driving and not wearing seat belts.
It’s part of a safety blitz known as Operation Impact.
Speed is the number one cause of death on OPP-patrolled roads, the police force said. On Thursday, two drivers were stopped in separate incidents for driving over 200 km/h.
In addition to road safety, the campaign will also focus on waterways and trails.
