Pre-dawn lineups for Alexander Wang’s H&M collection

Fashion diehards have lined up for hours in the hopes of being one of the first Canadians to get their hands on designer Alexander Wang’s H&M collaboration.

Lineups started Wednesday morning outside the three Toronto stores offering the collection — Eaton Centre, Yonge and Bloor, and Yorkdale — ahead of their 8 a.m. opening on Thursday.

Wang’s H&M collection includes men’s and women’s items, including sweaters, water bottles and sports bras, and, like many of Wang’s lines, it is predominantly black.

Items range from $12.95 for a keychain to $499 for a parka.

The Swedish fast fashion retailer began collaborating with high-end designers to make more affordable collections 10 years ago.

Past collaborations with the likes of Stella McCartney and Versace have been snapped up by fashion fans and re-sellers.

The collections are known to sell out quickly, with items popping up on eBay soon after.

Wang, 30, launched his own label soon after graduating from Parsons in New York. His first full ready-to-wear line premiered in 2007.

In 2012, at age 28, he was named the creative director for French fashion house Balenciaga.
