1 killed in double shooting near Bathurst and Dundas

Police have identified a man killed in a double shooting in the Alexandra Park neighbourhood early Saturday morning.

Roberto Dixon, 27, was found without vital signs near Bathurst and Dundas streets around 4:15 a.m. and was pronounced dead on scene.

Another victim, a man in his 30s, was shot in the hip. He’s in serious condition and will recover.

Police were canvassing the area for witnesses, but so far have not released a suspect description.

It’s Toronto’s fourth case of homicide in 2015.

Det. Paul Warden told CityNews that there was a third male with this group of friends who was not hurt and remainded on scene to give a statement to police.

The man said he did not know who the shooter was and that the three victims were walking through park to get to a location before they were approached from behind.

Warden said it appears the shooter approached Dixon specifically and was more interested in him than the other two men.

Police said it also appears that the suspect did not leave the area scene in a rush, but appeared casual as he left the area.

Police are asking the public to contact investigators if they may have witnessed anyone in the area around the time of the shooting.
