A group of armed thieves led police on a high-risk manhunt in the west end which resulted in an arrest and the recovery of a stolen car, officers said.
It’s alleged the suspects were responsible for two robberies on Saturday night — one around 10:30 p.m. at St. Clair Avenue West and Runnymede Road and the other, about an hour later, at Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West.
Police tried to stop the suspects in a stolen Acura MDX at Dundas Street West and Old Weston Road, but the group fled. Officers chased down one of the suspects on foot near Annette and Keele streets soon after and found the SUV.
They set up a perimeter, evacuating homes on Indian Road and warning others to stay inside and avoid the area, and called in the canine unit and the emergency task force.
The perimeter came down just before 2 a.m., but police said the suspects are still at large and may be armed.
