Toronto drag queen attacked, robbed after bringing man home

Toronto’s LGBTQ community is rallying around a man who says he was violently attacked and robbed after bringing another man home earlier this week.

On Tuesday night, Ryan Boa was celebrating his 20th birthday with friends at Statlers, near Church and Wellesley streets, and took to the stage dressed in drag.

The man — whom Boa describes as “cute” and “charismatic” — began showing an interest, tipping him and buying him drinks.

Around 2:30 a.m., the two left together and went back to Boa’s place, where the man started making sexual advances. Boa resisted and said that’s when the assault happened.

“It went, in a split second, from happy to angry,” said Boa, who remembered being hit in the head, but little else.

“I went to the bathroom, took a shower, looked at myself and said, ‘Oh my God,’” he told CityNews.

“I looked at my bedroom. There was blood everywhere.”

Boa had a broken nose and serious facial injuries, and his wallet, laptop and cellphone were gone.

Toronto police would like to talk to the man, who was appears to have been captured on video shared within the LGBTQ community.

Officers are asking anyone who was at Statlers on Tuesday night or might have information about the “person of interest” should call them or Crime Stoppers.
