If you love Reese’s, it’s fair to say you’ll love this doughnut to pieces.
Last year’s Duelling Donuts winner, the Love Reese’s to Pieces doughnut, is now available at your local Tim Hortons.
The doughnut, created by Jennifer Brown of Glencoe, Ont., is a chocolate doughnut with cream filing, chocolate and white topping, and sprinkled with peanuts and peanut butter cups. But unlike Brown’s contest entry, the doughnut available to consumers will have whole peanut butter cups instead of crumbled ones.
Brown said the doughnut was invented late at night when she had trouble sleeping.
“I imagined a few donut flavours that I would love to try,” she said last August when she was declared the contest’s winner. “A peanut donut is an untapped resource – something that’s hard to find, but that we all want!”
The Love Reese’s to Pieces doughnut will be available in stores for a limited time.
It’s not the first time Tim Hortons has promoted a special, limited-time donut. Most recently, Tims made Nutella donuts available from April until June. Tims has also used doughnut promotions to raise money for important causes, like the Alberta Rose Doughnut, which was used to raise funds for flood relief in southern Alberta in 2013.
This year’s Duelling Donuts contest is well underway. If you have the recipe for Canada’s next great doughnut, you have until July 21 to enter for a chance to win $10,000.
At least one person was disappointed at the choice of filling.
“Is there peanut butter inside? If not then pass,” Mike Barry wrote on Facebook. What do you think of the donut? Let us know.
