A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer in relation to a video showing a crowd turning on a police officer detaining a suspect.
The video surfaced on Facebook late last week showing the officer restraining a man outside a liquor store at Sheridan Mall near Jane Street and Wilson Avenue. It was posted on CityNews on Tuesday afternoon.
In the video, the officer struggles to arrest the man and call in backup while members of the crowd interfere with him.
Police say Andrew Burger has been arrested in relation to the incident.
During the video, a man in a Toronto Blue Jays jacket clearly tries to pull the officer off of the man. Police allege that is the man who has been arrested.
The man being detained in the video has not been named by police, but they say he has been charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
