Woman accused in Shoppers Drug Mart fatal stabbing back in court Jan. 20

By News staff

The woman accused of a random stabbing at a downtown Shoppers Drug Mart last month will have her next court appearance on Jan. 20.

Rohinie Bisesar, 40, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Rosemarie Junor. She is also charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Bisesar, who has been in custody since her arrest on Dec. 15, briefly appeared in court on Friday.

Bisesar’s lawyer, Calvin Barry said, his client was tired and disheveled on Friday, and that he had a hard time speaking with her.

He said a bail hearing would have to be carefully planned because of the murder charge. Also, Barry is waiting for some police documents in the case.

The judge agreed with the Crown that Bisesar should appear via video link on Jan. 20 due to possible strike action by jail guards.

The stabbing happened at the store, located in the PATH system at 66 Wellington St. W., just before 3 p.m. on Dec. 11.

Junor was rushed to hospital, where she died five days later.

Bisesar was the subject of a manhunt for several days before her arrest. An original charge of attempted murder was upgraded after Junor’s death.
