Toronto police say a missing 10-year-old girl has been found safe and sound.
Daneesha Phillips went missing around 3:15 p.m. near Torresdale and Steeles Avenue.
Police launched a “level 3” search for the young girl, with between 40 to 50 officers joining in the search before she was eventually found more than seven hours later.
Inspector Domenic Sinopoli said it appears the girl left Rockford Public School and boarded the Finch Avenue bus, ending up at the Yonge-Finch subway station. She was then discovered some 30 kilometres west at or near the Kipling subway station. Police say they are not certain how she made it that far.
“The information we have is that she was alone on the bus, whether she was alone on the subway, we don’t know that yet.”
