Canada Post ordered to stop delivering Your Ward News tabloid

The federal government ordered Canada Post to stop delivering a controversial Toronto tabloid newspaper.

The Minister of Public Services issued a prohibitory order effectively halting the delivery of the paper on Monday. Your Ward News has been criticized for being homophobic, misogynistic and anti-Semitic.

A human rights complaint was filed back in April against Canada Post, which delivers the paper in several Toronto neighbourhoods.

“Standing Together Against Mailing Prejudice today hailed the decision of the Trudeau government – and the minister responsible for Canada Post, Judy Foote – to issue a prohibitory order against the future delivery of the neo-Nazi rag, Your Ward News, to tens of thousands of Toronto-area homes,” says the press release.

The publisher of Your Ward News is Leroy St. Germaine, and the editor-in-chief is Dr. James Sears, who describes himself as a physician and former Canadian Armed Forces medical officer. The paper promotes the New Constitution Party, an unregistered neo-Nazi party apparently led by Sears.

“I strategically chose to expand into areas full of brainwashed lefties because they especially need our Christian Libertarian National Socialist gospel,” Sears wrote in an editor’s message. “We now have Toronto’s largest newspaper readership and remain the world’s largest anti-Marxist publication.”

Lisa Kinsella, Managing Partner of The Daisy Group and one of the founding members of STAMP said she is ecstatic about the Minister’s decision.

“For too long, Your Ward News has been permitted to disseminate racism, homophobia, misogyny and anti-Semitism to as many as 300,000 homes in Toronto,” said Kinsella. “Minister Foote’s swift and decisive action means that this disgusting material will no longer be landing in the mailboxes of people who don’t want it.”

Sears took to Twitter to voice his opinion about the prohibitory order.
