Sandro Lisi extortion case back in court in September

The case of Alexander ‘Sandro’ Lisi, charged with extortion in an attempt to retrieve the infamous ‘crack’ video, will be back in court in September.

Lisi, the late Rob Ford’s former driver and friend, was not in court earlier this month as the new Sept. 12 court date was set.

The juried trial is expected to last four weeks. His lawyers were supposed to with Crown lawyers on Wednesday, but the meeting has been postponed to July 12.

Lisi is accused of threatening Liban Siyad on May 16, 2013. Lisi allegedly threatened Siyad with violence to deliver the video of the former mayor smoking crack.

Siyad is already in jail on drug and gun charges. He refused to testify at the preliminary hearing.

Ford did not testify or give a police statement. His evidence may have been needed to connect Lisi’s threats to the retrieval of the video.

Lisi was previously found not guilty of previous drug charges, and a second extortion charge was dropped.

Ford died of cancer on March 22.
