For a second night in a row, gunshots rang out on Rockvale Avenue and this time, a bullet hit at least one home.
It happened around 11 p.m. in the city’s north-end, near Rogers Road and Oakwood Avenue, almost the same time as the previous evening.
One bullet went through the window of a house, but no one was home at the time. Another bullet hit an empty parked car. No injuries were reported.
A vehicle was spotted driving away from the scene. No arrests have been made.
On Monday night, police were called to the same street after two vehicles were hit by bullets. No one was in the vehicles at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The bullet that struck the car on Tuesday night was the same address where two vehicles were shot at on Monday night. The bullet that hit the home was next to that residence.
A police officer wrote in a community Facebook group that there would be increased police presence in the area because of the gunshots.
“There will be increased visible and non-visible police presence in the neighbourhood today and through the weekend.,” Scott Baptist wrote.
“You will see a command post in the area during the late evening/early morning hours, multiple directed patrol officers, extra officers are being brought in on callback, RIDE spotchecks will be deployed, officers from TAVIS, Mounted Unit, Traffic Services are all being requested, and numerous criminal investigators and investigative resources are being dedicated to these investigations.”
There will also be a large community meeting on Monday, Baptist said.
