Man dead, two firefighters hurt, in Hamilton house fire

A man is dead and two firefighters are recovering after a fire in Hamilton on Tuesday night.

The fire began on 5th Road East near Mud Street, south of Stoney Creek, around 9:30 p.m.

A man, believed to be in his 50s, was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At its height, 22 trucks from Hamilton Fire were called in to battle the blaze. The two firefighters that were injured were treated at the scene.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
