Interview: John Laschinger pens book on election campaigns

Do you want to know why and how John Tory won the election that put him into the mayor’s office? How about learning why and how Rob Ford took the prize in 2010, or how Olivia Chow tumbled from frontrunner to also-ran in 2014?

Theories abound, of course, but John Laschinger has a more informed theory than most of us, as one of the key figures in the thick of those election campaigns and about 50 others across the country over the last 40 years.

As one of Canada’s only full-time campaign managers, Laschinger has learned a great deal about how to win elections and what can lead to a loss.

He has recalled and documented his observations in a new book titled Campaign Confessions: Tales from the War Rooms of Politics.

Laschinger shared some of his anecdotes with 680 NEWS political affairs specialist John Stall. Listen to the interview below.
