Stolen dog walker’s van found with pets inside

A van that was stolen from the Fort York area with several dogs inside has been found, police confirm.

A crew of rail workers found the van Friday evening on Queens Quay East, near Parliament Street, more than eight hours after it was stolen from the area of Bathurst Street and Fort York Boulevard.

Police say around 11:30 a.m., a dog walker was loading the van and briefly turned away. At that point, someone jumped into the van and drove off.

The van, which belongs to Soulmutts Toronto, had 16 dogs in it at the time it was taken. Police said all of the dogs have been accounted for and are in good health.

The dog owners had gathered for a search party earlier in the evening, but it was called off once the van was found.

The suspect is described as a white man, six feet tall and 200 pounds with wavy blonde hair down past his ears.
