Renata Ford charged with impaired driving, due in court Jan. 11

The widow of late Mayor Rob Ford has been charged with impaired driving and will appear in court on Jan. 11.

Police said Renata Ford was arrested around 6 p.m., as she sat in a vehicle in the parking lot of a shopping plaza near The Kingsway and Royal York Road.

She is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with over 80 mg of alcohol.

Ford was alone in the vehicle at the time.

She has held in custody overnight, but was released on Thursday morning.

Rob Ford was mayor from 2010 to 2014. He died of cancer in March at the age of 46.
