The crash happened on Brimley Road north of Eglinton Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The driver of a Mazda was turning onto southbound Brimley when they struck a Chevy Malibu, which was travelling southbound at a high rate of speed, police said.

The driver of the Malibu, a man believed to be in his late 20s, then veered off the road and slammed into a tree. He was trapped inside his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Mazda was not injured.

Police report debris spread south for several blocks.
