Purina PawsWay Event Centre to close this September

By News Staff

It’s been a popular spot for animal lovers and their pets for nearly a decade, but come early September the PawsWay Event Centre at Harbourfront will shut down.

The centre is operated by Purina and is also the permanent home of the Purina Animal Hall of Fame.

“For nearly 10 years, those of us at PawsWay have enjoyed promoting responsible pet ownership and well-being, while giving Toronto’s pets and pet lovers a physical space to celebrate the world of dogs and cats,” the organization said in a post on its Facebook page.

The centre was also a popular spot for tourists, who would stop and take photos with the dog and cat statues right outside the front doors.

According to its Facebook post, PawsWay had two five-year leases with Harbourfront Corporation. The second one expires at the end of October this year and it is not being renewed.

The centre will continue to run programs for pets and pet lovers between now and September 4.

There has been no word on what will take over the space.

680 NEWS reached out to Harbourfront Corporation for a comment but has yet to hear back.
