After a couple of failed attempts to save someone who fell into the choppy waters of Niagara Falls, a crew managed to rescue the man as a group of tourists watched from above.
Marsha Russell and her family were on their way to Oshawa from Atlanta, Ga., on Thursday and decided to make a stop at the falls.
It was around 6:30 p.m. when they noticed the captain from the Maid of the Mist tour boat throw a life preserver into the water.
A smaller rescue boat then made a couple of attempts to rescue the man, who was clinging to the shore.
He finally got hold of a life preserver and the crew pulled him to the boat, although the high waves made it difficult.
They finally pulled him onto the boat safely.
“He looked tired (and) like he was determined to stay on the rocks,” Russell said. “The waves were very strong because it was really close to the waterfall.”
It’s not clear how the man ended up in the water.
Officials were not available for comment.
