Woman critically injured in Humber Bay Shores shooting

By News Staff

A woman is in life-threatening condition following an early morning shooting at a Humber Bay Shores condominium on Sunday.

Police say they received several calls for the sound of gunshots from a building on Annie Craig Drive just before 7 a.m.

However, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the location of the shooting was one street over at 33 Shore Breeze Drive. There police located a white Mercedes Benz that appeared to have been involved in some kind of collision. Inside was a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a downtown trauma centre without vital signs where she was revived and is now listed in life-threatening condition.

Several shell casings were found at the scene.

Police say they are looking for a male, believed to be the shooter, who was wearing dark clothing. He was last seen fleeing the area northbound towards Lake Shore Boulevard.

One area resident said she was awakened by the sound of at least eight gunshots.

“I heard like five and then there was a pause and then there was another three,” said Samantha Price, who added she could see paramedics performing CPR on the woman from her nearby condo.

“I heard a woman outside and she was screaming ‘Oh no, why! Why her.’ She was just hysterical.”

A resident of the building told CityNews the incident has left him terrified and frightened.

“This is supposed to be a very peaceful neighbourhood. It’s shocking to get here and find out someone’s been shot in front of your building. It’s not right,” said the man. “Police cars in front of a building like this doesn’t scream safe.”
