Missing Toronto fisherman’s body found in Lake Scugog

Police in Durham Region say they’ve recovered the body of a Toronto fisherman who went missing five months ago.

A fisherman called police on Thursday night after locating the body of a deceased male on Lake Scugog near Centre Road and Crozier Lane on Scugog Island.

Police say they believe the remains to be that of Phong Vu. The 31-year-old went missing back on October 15 after the canoe he was in capsized. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time of his disappearance, according to police.

A post-mortem is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death and confirme the victim’s identity.
