Three people, including a child, are in hospital after a fire broke out at a low-rise apartment building in Mississauga overnight.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on Mississauga Road, north of Lakeshore Road West, just before 4 a.m.
A woman was dangling from a second-floor window when firefighters arrived on scene.
“Our crew arrived on scene and found a female occupant hanging out of a second-storey window above the cake shop,” Mississauga Fire platoon chief Luigi Davoli explained
“They set up a ground ladder quickly and did a rescue.”
A man and a child were able to escape the home on their own.
Paramedics said all three suffered smoke inhalation. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
The fire was contained to one unit in the building.
Fire investigators are on scene trying to determine how and where the fire started.
Mississauga Road is closed between Lakeshore and High Street.
