Six men are facing a slew of charges, including two charged with attempted murder, in connection with a shooting outside Ryerson’s student centre on Friday.
The shooting happened as Raptors fans celebrated the team’s NBA championship victory at Yonge-Dundas Square.
Emergency crews were in the area for the festivities and rushed to Gould Street, just west of Yonge Street, when they heard the sounds of gunshots around 4:15 a.m.
Police said the 19-year-old victim became involved in an altercation with another man. That other man drew a gun, shot the victim once and then continued to shoot him as he laid on the ground.
The suspect then fled with a group of friends.
Officers in the area stopped the group and arrested the suspects.
Police said guns and drugs were seized.
The victim was rushed to hospital with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. There has been no word on his current condition.
Both Abdulrahman Abdullahi, 23, of Toronto, and Kamal Hassan, 26, of Toronto, have been charged with attempted murder, as well as several other firearms related offences.
Ilyas Riyaleh, 23, Jovane Watson, 20, Zachary Cust, 21, and Nathaniel Campbell, 33, all of Toronto, are also facing multiple charges.
Police said they all appeared in court on Monday morning.
