Special weather statement issued for Toronto

A special weather statement has been issued for the City of Toronto due to wet weather in the forecast for tonight.
Environment Canada said areas of showers and thundershowers are expected to move across southern Ontario at times through tonight.
“We do have a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms — could be severe across southern Ontario,” 680 NEWS and CityNews weather specialist Denise Andreacchi explained.
The agency said the first wave is expected to reach the GTA around 3 p.m. with some areas seeing between 20 to 40 mms of rainfall before the showers end early Saturday.
“Mostly dry for Saturday with a mix of sun and cloud and highs near 26 C. Sunny and near 25 C for Sunday,” Andreacchi said.
