Power has been restored to two pockets of Yonge Street in North York after an outage that was caused by underground equipment failure.
The outage happened just before 5 a.m. Thursday in the area of Yonge and Finch Avenue, and Yonge between Highway 401 and York Mills Road.
Power was restored just after 9 a.m.
The power utility said 1,170 customers were affected by the outage.
The cause of the equipment failure is not yet known but, at this point, it is not believed to be heat related.
The outage came on a day when the humidex is expected to soar to 37 C.
We’re aware of an outage in the Yonge/Finch to Yonge/York Mills area. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to make repairs to underground equipment and expect to have power restored by noon.
