Exxon: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on Friday reported second-quarter net income of $3.13 billion.

The Irving, Texas-based company said it had profit of 73 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations, but Exxon does not adjust its reported results based on one-time events such as asset sales. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 68 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $69.09 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $65.76 billion.

Exxon shares have increased slightly more than 6% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has risen 18%. The stock has dropped nearly 10% in the last 12 months.
