Driver mounts vehicle onto sidewalk in Willowdale, killing pedestrian

A 69-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle in Willowdale.
Emergency crews were called to Finch Avenue East, between Doris Avenue and Yonge Street, just before 10 a.m. Friday.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was heading east on Finch when, for unknown reasons, mounted the curb, hit the woman on the sidewalk and then crashed into a light pole.
The 35-year-old driver remained at the scene and was taken to the hospital.
Police said they continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
