1 dead, 1 critical after multi-vehicle crash in Markham

A 75-year-old woman is dead and a 76-year-old man is in critical condition after a five-vehicle crash in Markham.
York regional police were called to the intersection of Highway 7 and Ninth Line just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The woman, who was from Markham, was a passenger in a Honda Civic. She was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died.
The man, also from Markham, was the driver from that same vehicle. He remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Three other people suffered minor injuries.
The three other people who were in the vehicles were not injured in the crash.
