The homicide unit is investigating after a 28-year-old man was shot to death early Monday morning in north Etobicoke.

Police say they received a number of calls for gunshots in the area of Jamestown Crescent and John Garland Boulevard at around 12:30 a.m.

Emergency crews arrived to find a man suffering life-threatening injuries.

He was later pronounced dead. He has been identified to CityNews as Farhan Jama by his family.

Police say a group of suspects shot “indiscriminately” at the victim and 20 shell casings were found at the crime scene.

Det. Rob North of the homicide squad says it appears the victim briefly interacted with the suspects before they opened fire.

But he says he doesn’t know why the victim would have been targeted, because he has no gang affiliations.

North says the suspects drove off together and the victim died at the scene.

Farhan Jama has been identified by his family as the victim in the Rexdale homicide on October 14, 2019. CITYNEWS
