One person is dead and two others have been seriously injured after a drive-by shooting in Mississauga on Tuesday night.
The shooting happened on the Highway 410 northbound ramp to Derry Road. Police were called to the area shortly before 10 p.m.
According to police, the vehicle containing the three victims was on the ramp and the driver was waiting to make a left turn onto Derry, when another vehicle pulled up alongside and at least one person opened fire.
Paramedics confirmed one man was pronounced dead at the scene and another man and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, police said the two surviving victims are now listed in serious condition in hospital.
Police have not released a description of the second vehicle.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie said she’s appalled by the violence that took place overnight.
“Like all Mississauga residents, I am appalled and deeply unsettled by the 2 brazen shootings last night,” she said in a tweet Wednesday morning.
“This violence has no place in our City. It’s why I continue to call on senior levels of government to deliver funding to tackle the issue of guns & gangs and the root causes.”
She also urged area residents to contact police if they had any dash cam or cellphone footage of the shooting.
The second shooting Crombie was referring to in her tweet took place just two hours after the drive-by. A man was fatally shot while sitting in a car outside a condo near Square One.
