4th fire reported at homeless camp under the Gardiner in two weeks

Another homeless camp has caught fire under the Gardiner Expressway, the fourth one in the last two weeks.
Toronto fire say they were called to the area at Lakeshore Boulevard and Spadina Road just before 2 p.m.
Heavy black smoke could be seen billowing over the expressway. It was put out shortly after firefighters arrived.
It’s unclear if anyone has been injured. The Lakeshore westbound on ramp at Spadina is closed and the intersection is closed as well.
A homeless camp caught fire on Sunday under the Gardiner on Lakeshore between Bay and Yonge Street, forcing the closure of the on-ramp while engineers determined if there had been any structural damage. No one was injured.
On Feb. 23, four people were injured in a fire at a homeless camp in Corktown Commons park near the Gardiner Expressway.
Several propane canisters appeared to have exploded in that incident, fire said.
The next morning, another camp caught fire, this time near the westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway near Jameson Avenue.
There were no reports of injuries in that particular fire, but several charred propane tanks were found at the scene.
