Toronto police have charged a man with kidnapping after a woman who was unconscious after an apparent drug overdose was allegedly abducted.

The alleged victim, identified as Amber Johnson, 33, of Toronto, was missing for the most of the day. She was located safe and sound at approximately 7:15 p.m.

In a release, police said they were called to the Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East area at around 8:44 a.m. Monday morning for a suspected overdose.

Before police arrived a man placed the unconscious woman inside a car.

Police said concerned citizens “challenged the man regarding her safety” and the man said he was taking her to hospital.

The man drove off with the woman, but police said they never made it to hospital.

“Someone attended that scene, took this woman and put her in a car, and said they were taking her to the hospital, but they’ve not shown up at the hospital,” Const. David Hopkinson explained.

“We’ve not found anyone that matches the description of either the victim or the person who picked her up at a hospital,” he said at the time.

Officers have since located the vehicle and arrested a suspect.

James Felfoldi, 51, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping and fail to comply with parole.
