Weekend construction in Toronto: Allen Road closed, lane restrictions on eastbound Gardiner

By News Staff

For the first time in two years, Allen Road is going to be closed all weekend long for maintenance.

The roadway will be closed between Eglinton and Sheppard avenues from 11 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

The City said it would rather go the way of a single weekend of roadwork, instead of partial lane closures that would take 25 days to do the same work.

Road work will also result in the eastbound Gardiner Expressway reduced to one lane between Yonge and Cherry streets from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Eastbound and westbound Lake Shore Boulevard will also be reduced to two lanes leading up to Lower Sherbourne Street from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

As a result, the usual ActiveTO road closure on Lake Shore Boulevard from Leslie Street to Woodbine Avenue will not be taking place this weekend.

However, the other ActiveTO road closures will continue: Lake Shore from Stadium Road to Windemere Avenue, Bayview Avenue from Front Street East to Rosedale Valley Road, and River Street from Gerrard Street East to Bayview.
